Grand Strand Communities

Pawleys Island

A quiet, historic beach community at the south end of the Grand Strand, known for its relaxed pace, marsh views, and unhurried beaches.

Life in Pawleys Island

Pawleys Island sits at the southern end of the Grand Strand in Georgetown County, about half an hour south of Myrtle Beach along US-17. It is one of the oldest summer resort areas on the East Coast, and it has kept its easygoing character. The town even calls itself "arrogantly shabby."

Life here moves at a slower pace. You will find quiet beaches, salt marsh and creeks on the island's back side, local shops and restaurants along the Hammock Coast, and the famous Pawleys Island rope hammock. Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park are a short drive north.
