Horry County Communities
A friendly small town in northwestern Horry County with farming roots, a historic downtown, and more room for your money.
Loris is a small city in northwestern Horry County, close to the North Carolina line. It grew up as a farming and railroad town, and that hometown character is still here: a walkable historic downtown, local businesses, churches, and neighbors who know each other.
Every fall, Loris hosts the Loris Bog-Off Festival, a celebration of chicken bog, the rice-and-chicken dish Horry County is known for. It is a good example of the community spirit you find here.
Buyers often look at Loris for value and space. You will find older in-town homes, country properties, and land, usually at lower prices than the coast. The beaches of North Myrtle Beach and Little River are still within driving distance.
If you are weighing a small-town home against life closer to the beach, we can help you compare prices, drive times, and what each area offers day to day.
Thinking about small-town living in Loris or elsewhere in Horry County? We'd love to help you find your place here.
